This book also contains content for practical purposes. Like bones and it's anatomy, muscles etc are given in a good way. Surface anatomy and radio anatomy is also given. 2. Inderbir Singh's Human Embryology 

  

It is the best book for embryology. Contains colourful diagrams and nicely presented  and simple language that you can easily write in exams

3. Inderbir Singh's Human Histology


It is the best book for histology for both theory and practicals. Good diagrams are given and the content is also relevant. You can prepare your file from it easily. It helps for identification of slides during practicals

4. Cunningham Dissector

Proffesors will recommend you to buy this book. But I would suggest you not to waste your money into this useless book. This is because you will never study it throughout the year. It has very complicated theory and complicated diagrams that are far away from theory purposes. These are only for dissection purposes and hence is used by teachers. So if you need, then you can issue from library or from your seniors.

 As these are the reference books, It is not mandatory to buy them. Those are just for the reference purpose and to gain some extra knowledge.


1. Grey's Anatomy 

 

It's student version is good for Indian students. So I recommend you have its PDF file in your mobile. This book has beautiful 3d diagrams by which you can visualise anatomy in a better way . So you can make your base more strong and build good concept. You can also read its theory but don't use this book for exams because there are big paragraphs in it. No pointers and headings are there like that in bd chaurasia

 

2. Snell's Clinical Anatomy 

 


 It is good for detailed clinical aspects but is not ideal for exams. So leave it.

 

3. Nettlar's Atlas

 

It is a supplementary book. I would suggest you to keep its PDF file. it has beautiful illustrated diagrams that are natural looking and precise to such a detail that you won't confuse regarding positions of various structures.

4. Di Fiore's Atlas

 

If you have good interest in histology and you want to know that how the histological diagrams really look in microscope, then this book is for you. Its diagrams are really awesome and you can relate them to your practice slides.

It is one of the most favoured book by the students for physiology. Its advantage is that it contains topics in point wise manner. So, it becomes very easy to grasp a topic and write in exam. This book is known as Bible of physiology. This book is that it is too vast and very much detailed. So, it requires time to study it. So, it is good for concept building, but you will feel difficulty to write in exam. So, it can't help you to score in your exams. So, its your choice as we don't get much time in 1st year to study it.

3 Sembulingam  


 This is your exam saviour book. Most students ( including me) start studying it during final exams to pass in exams. If you haven't studied good during your whole year, then during exams, you can stick to this book. This is because it is really the simplest book. Its language is very simple and content is very less. So it takes less time to read the topics. Its flow charts are really awasome. Like the topic shock is explained in many flow charts which give good understanding. It is a good reference book

4. G.K Pal's Practical Physiology

 

It contains in depth information and also, many question answers after every experiment that are asked in vivas. So, while going to your viva, you will not be feared that what will the examiner ask? As this book contains all the possible questions asked.

                         BIOCHEMISTRY 

 

1. Satyanarayan 

 

It is the standard book of biochemistry for indian medical students. It is the simplest book and contains content displayed in headings and points and in a way that you can easily remember and recaptulate in exams. Tables and flow charts are given wherever necessary. Cycles are displayed in good way. So it is an exam oriented book

2. Lippincott's Biochemistry 


 It is a foreign author book. Its advantage is that it's language is very easy. It also have good diagrams and excellent charts and tables. The concepts are displayed in simple language. Moreover, it has tables at the end of every chapter that summaries the whole chapter. So, it can be very helpful to understand the concepts.

3. D.M Vasudevan's Practical Biochemistry

1. D.M Vasudevan's Biochemistry

  Vasudevan has good content in most aspects, but is weak in its continuity, and you will often find content related to one topic scattered over multiple chapters. It has inadequate information about Molecular Biology so you will need to refer another book. It is also an Indian author book. So, it is also helpful for Indian students. Just use it as reference in PDF form
